HOW TO FIND CLIENTS AS A BEGINNER VIDEOGRAPHER

Starting out in videography doesn’t need to be scary, or hard for that matter. There are plenty of ways to get your foot in the door without having to cold email every coffee shop in your local area. Today we’re going to give you some of our top tips for finding clients as a beginner videographer. These are tips we did ourselves when we where first starting too!

Your Current Social Circle

Don’t make starting out any harder than it needs to be, start by reach out to your group of family and friends asking if anyone needs a video making. And do this for FREE. We can almost guarantee that at least one member of your social circle will have a project or a business they are working on that requires a video being made. This could be a 60 second instagram promotion, or a 20 minute YouTube video, whatever it is, do your best to give all of your attention to these types of projects.

Local Businesses

Once you have exhausted your list of friends and family, you can start reaching out to local businesses which you personally use. The reason this is going to work in your favour is because you will already know about that business and the type of atmosphere they like. Places like independent coffee shops, florists, etc are great starting points. And again, like before, offer to work for FREE. And provide as much value as you can in the videos you are creating for them.

Taking things to the next level

Once you have completed 5-10 different video projects you will have created a solid ‘portfolio’ of work which you can now use to pitch to paying clients with. The reason you want to give 100% effort in your FREE work is because when you come to have paid work you will value it much more. Publish your portfolio on social media and a website and you will have a solid base to pitch your services off of.
